Holistic, community-rooted evaluation grounded in relationship and story
Our approach is to work towards a more holistic process, where all individuals involved within the evaluation environment are equally heard and valued. We build off the strengths of both indigenous and western evaluation and look for strategies and methods that are grounded in place and relationship.
We use several guiding principles in our work:
🌿Evaluation is grounded in story.
🌟Evaluation that celebrates successes.
🌀Evaluation that seeks to understand and nurture growth.
🤝Evaluation that is mindful of community values.
🧩Evaluation that is collaborative and participatory.
🔄Evaluation that builds upon reciprocity and balance.
🌎Evaluation that is mindful about our 7 generations. (our ancestors, those who are with us today, and those to come).
Collaboration
The collaborative evaluation team works closely with project partners to develop evaluation focus areas, methods, and analysis frameworks, so that the evaluation process is reflective of multiple voices and is relevant to the contexts and communities, programs and partners who we work with. In some instances, we help to build internal program evaluation capacity at the local level through a mentoring process or professional development training, which ultimately supports sustainable efforts.
Data Sovereignty
We honor data sovereignty and respect the value of reciprocity throughout our work. Our evaluation processes take into consideration the CARE and FAIR principles. Our team intentionally ask ourselves, in what ways does the community benefit from this evaluation? How are we being good relatives and giving back to the community?
